Building self esteem. One kid at a time.

by Coco on February 18, 2010

Every morning for school, I let Bram pick out his wardrobe.  It is usually quite creative and he is always very proud of the final product.

This morning I was asked, by Bram, to get my camera out to take a picture of him and his “cool” outfit.

This is apparently how you pose when you are wearing shiny sweatpants, a 4T (too small) long sleeve collared shirt, and a 3T (way too small) Hawaiian shirt.  It is serious business being a bad ass.

As we were walking out the door for school, Bram turned to me and said, “I can’t wait for everyone to see me.  The girls are going to die because I look so handsome!”  Shine on, Bram!  SHINE ON!

After my photo session with Bram, I went into the bathroom to check on Miss Tess and her hour long teeth-brushing session.  This is what I found:

Another make out session with the mirror.  Shine on, Tess!  SHINE ON!

I guess having a weirdo as a mom and a nut-head as a dad isn’t such a bad thing after all?!

Bram is looking FIERCE in those pics. The kid’s got some style! ahahahaha

I think you may need to invest in a full length mirror for Miss Tess so that she doesn’t have to stand on her counter. Or maybe that’s the fun of it?? I’m just glad to see that she’s wearing a dress and tights. So cute.

Where does he get this stuff? Always happy to see Tess in her dresses! By the way, you may want to watch her tooth brushing. I was always so proud of Sydney’s brushing skills until last month when the orthordontist told me there may be gum grafts in her future…scary. He suggested a sonicare toothbrush and we bought one on the way home from the orthodontist!

I’m SO happy to see that you let your kids dress themselves. I totally believe in this unless it’s a special occasion that calls for particular dress. I don’t care anything about keeping up appearances of having kids that can be photographed at any moment. I care much more about them experimenting and learning and being themselves. SHINE ON, Coco’s kids. SHINE ON.

Casey February 18, 2010 at 10:15 am

Don’t get too excited, Shannon. This is not the norm. Her kids are dressed to the nines 99% of the time, Coco inspired.

Loving TM’s outfit. Colorful and fun. Time for spring.

I caught Lainey kissing the mirror the other day. For longer than I was comfortable with.

I’m all for the boys picking out their attire. They start as soon as they tell me they want to, and I have to say they have done a pretty good job!

Bram IS looking rather fierce! I like that description! Perfect.

Tessie, Tessie, Tessie Mayes…..Really…eat her up!!! She is going to be someone famous someday. I totally feel it.

Shine on, superstars, shine ON!

I still pick out GTO’s clothes every night. He is seven and could care less what he has on, and doesn’t even pay attention to what he is wearing. He has learned to always read the sayings on his shirts before putting them on. I sent him to school in an abercrombie shirt that read, “now seeking hot girlfriends.” He wasn’t too happy with me when he got home that day. HA!

I am totally surprised that you let Bram pick out his own clothes. I pictured you more as a control freak mom who has her kids dressed to the nines 99.999999% of the time. :) Thanks Casey for clarifying.

Tessie, Oh Tessie…you are so cute for words! Do I spy some Lelli Kelly sequin shoes? YUM!

Becky February 18, 2010 at 11:26 am

Oops, I meant…TOO CUTE FOR WORDS!

Sass February 18, 2010 at 11:57 am

I’m dying at Tessie Mayes’ first picture!!!! She is so into herself. Wonder where she gets that?

Cindy February 18, 2010 at 12:48 pm

Love Tessie May’s dress and tights – so cute and the look on her face is priceless! She’s ready for Hollywood! Kudos to you for letting Bram pick out his clothes and rolling with it … Bia wants to pick hers out not – hard to let go of that control especially when she doesn’t match!

Froggity! February 18, 2010 at 1:12 pm

Word! Where did you get the darling dress/tights ensemble?
I want one for LL!!!!

Loves it… all of it. Bram is so hilarious… well, they BOTH are!

Ann February 18, 2010 at 1:21 pm

Your kids are so entertaining. I love them, in a noncreepy way.

Christie February 18, 2010 at 1:42 pm

Bram is hot stuff! That is so dang cute that he asks to have his picture taken and POSES! I am still getting some weird smile from Ashlyn! I laughed out loud seeing that picture because… how cute is that??

Oh, Tessie Mayes you are too precious for words! Keep up that self esteem girl – you will need it later on! You will sail right through life with that self esteem!

That is so awesome and I am so glad you indulge in it Coco! Keep it up!

Stephanie @ Geezees February 18, 2010 at 1:55 pm

Bram is a hoot! Love his unique style! And, Tess’ outfit, so fun! Love it!

MRD February 18, 2010 at 5:36 pm

I love that Bryan just popped up! Alex claims he doesnt know where his clothes are kept, so I pick them out.

merrymack February 18, 2010 at 8:30 pm

I have tears rolling down my face over Bryan! I love it.

Mr. Mack wants to know if that is Bram’s prison pose. He is surely representin’! He is hard. I hope you have a parent teacher conference soon.

Can I get a spoon to gobble Tess up with! So cute and I need that outfit in a five please.

Belle (from Life of a...) February 19, 2010 at 6:01 am

Bram is going to do VERY well when he’s featured in GQ. He’s got the poses down pat and his outfit actually looks lots better than some of the things I’ve seen in the magazine OR on the catwalks during fashion week. Tess and Lorelai are cut from the same cloth. Lorelai LOVES a mirror. One new outfit and she’ll stand in front of the mirror for a couple of hours. Only problem is that the outfits get LOTS more expensive the older she gets.

Hilarious. Love looking at the kiddos. They crack me up!

Life with Kaishon February 20, 2010 at 5:04 pm

Your children are SO sweet.
My sons favorite pants are WAY too short.
He thinks he looks great in them though : )
So I let him wear them!
If short pants float your boat, well for heavens sake, wear them : )
